Wrote this while waiting for my son at Taekwondo.

Out the window by my desk
Pokeweed leans, six-foot tall and ragged against the fence.
Reminding me of my shortcomings.
But covered in snow
it becoms a Christmas card.
A tufted titmouse visits the berries each morning.
I watch while answering email.
The fallen fruit stains the snow
a luminous magenta,
soul medicine in the gray landscape.
